General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Policy

 

We are committed to protecting and respecting the privacy of all our clients.

This policy has been prepared in accordance with GDPR and may be changed from time to time as updates are required. It is effective from 1st Jan 2022.

 

Why is my data being collected?

Save A Life Academy collect and process the data you provide to be able to enrol you on our courses, process your qualifications, keep a record of your training and keep you updated. 

 

What information is being collected?

A record is kept of your personal details including name, date of birth, telephone numbers, email address, employer and signature (signed register as proof of attendance).

Pictures taken for assessment are kept on record. 

 

Where do I keep your information?

Your data is kept in an electronic file on password protected cloud storage account.

 

How will I use your information?

Data will be used to communicate as necessary regarding your training, qualifications and related information along with email reminders and marking information such as email newsletters. We use a service provided by MailChimp who are compliant with GDPR regulations themselves. 

You are welcome to opt out of email reminders or marketing information at any time.

 

Who will it be shared with?

We share your data with the certification body QualSafe in order to register your training and issue you with a certificate. We do not share your data with with anyone else. 

 

How long will I keep your data?

We will keep your details and supplementary information for as long as necessary. As a minimum this will be 3 years to be able to notify you of your need for renewal.

 

Security

All computers, laptops, tablets and phones are locked with passcodes. 

In the unfortunate event of a data breach, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible.

 


Your Rights

Under GDPR you have certain rights. These include the right to…

  • be informed – the information above explains how we collect and use your data.
  • have access – you have the right to request (verbally or in writing) access your personal data and supplementary information free of charge within one month of the request. A fee may be charged for repeated access or for copies of the same information.
  • rectification – you have the right to have inaccurate or missing information corrected or completed. Requests can be verbal or written and will be carried out within a month of the request. 
  • erasure – you have the right to request complete erasure of all your details. We have one month from the time of your request to complete this action. 
  • restrict processing – you can request to place a specific restriction (such as opt out of marketing) on your personal data verbally or in writing. This request will be completed within one month. 
  • data portability – you may obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes or if you wish to pass it onto another professional. This information will be provided free of charge within one month of the request. The information will be provided in electronic format and will be emailed.
  • object – to processing of data for direct marketing or for research and statistics. You can object at any point verbally or in writing. 
  • complain – please contact us if you have a complaint relating to your training or how we hold and process your data.
